The Tehama County Genealogical & Historical Society was organized in 1980 to:

  • Bring together people interested in the history and genealogy of Tehama County and adjoining areas;
  • Promote research related to the history and genealogy of this area.
  • Help preserve this material and make it available to all who are interested.
  • Disseminate historical and genealogical information, newsletters lectures, tours, and other programs.
  • Work with the tehama County Library to provide a repository for printed historical and genealogical material and photographs, and with the museums in the county for the preservation of artifacts and objects of historical value.

The Society generally has five program meetings annually, including talks, workshops, or tours on some facet of the county's history, or genealogy, and are open to the public. They are publicized in the Society's Newsletter, and in the local newspapers.

"Tehama County Memories"

..........is the Annual Publication of the Tehama County Genealogical & Historical Society. Since the first issue was printed in 1983, the contributors to "Memories" have written extensively about the history of Tehama Country and adjoining counties, and the people living there.

The Society welcomes community support, and information about specific subjects or people in the area.
