The History Of Tehama Bank
It all started in Red Bluff, California, with
a group of business owners, professionals and community leaders
who envisioned a bank that cared about it's customers. Local
citizens jumped at the idea of a locally owned bank and rallied
to a stock offering, raising over two and one-half million dollars.
On August 30,1984, Tehama bank, then known as Tehama County
bank, opened its doors for business in a double-wide trailer
on North main Street. Ten individuals composed the entire bank
staff, from president to teller to bookkeeper.
In November of 1985, a second branch office
opened in Los Molinos. A few years later in 1988, Tehama bank
had the opportunity to buy a former bank building. The "previous
tenant" only used the building for seven months, so everything
- floor to ceiling - was literally new. The main Red Bluff Branch
along with the Administration Offices moved to a new location
at 237 South Main Street.
Continuing to grow and expand, Tehama Bank opened
a Loan Office in Chico in August 1989. Expanding again, Tehama
bank opened a Loan Office in Redding in August 1993. Just about
a year later, the Chico Loan Office moved to its present Pillsbury
location and became a full-service branch, with an emphasis
on business and professional banking.
As the Red Bluff Branch continued to grow by
leaps and bounds, the administrative Offices were cramped and
in the way of the branch operations. As luck would have it,
the storefront next to the branch became available, and the
administrative Offices moved next door in November 1994.
The year of 1997 saw the first expansion of
Tehama Bank through the acquisition of two branches from another
financial institution. Branches in Orland and Willows were purchased
and integrated into Tehama Bank, bringing the total number of
full - service branch offices to five as of February 1997.
Following the acquisition of the branches in
Orland and Willows, Tehama "County" bank's geographical
services area included Glenn, Butte, Shasta and Tehama Counties.
In February 1997 the Bank's name was changed to Tehama Bank.
Tehama Bank's next branch opened September 1,
1998 in Redding, California, at 1770 Pine Street. The new Redding
office offers a unique concept for banking - sit down teller
service. The idea came about because of Tehama Bank's commitment
to provide "outstanding" customer service. Customers
have the opportunity to be waited on and get the best customer
service possible. The new full-service branch offers all bank
services, in addition to the Bank's Government Guaranteed lending
center.
In September 1999, the Red Bluff branch relocated
to a more centralized facility about one mile away, providing
customers with an upgrading banking office featuring lots of
oak and glass. Then, later that year, the bank's loan center,
which had outgrown its facility in Los Molinos relocated to
the vacated branch office. The move has consolidated all back-room
departments to the Tehama Bank Business Center, allowing for
increased efficiency and improve work flow.
At the time of this revision, Tehama Bank provides
"Positively Outstanding Service" at six branch locations,
has approximately $220 million in assets and employs approximately
131 people.
