Brothers Auto & Truck Recycling
|
The business was originally established around
1932 and changed hands in '56. Owners were Troy Hess and Richard
"Dick" britten, who also owned the "Why Not
Club", Store, Gas Station, Car Lot and Ranch, closer
to town. Troy, his wife and son were killed in a car accident
and the business again changed hands in 1975. It is rumored
the property once housed a "Speak Easy." If the
old walls could talk I'm sure we would hear some great stories.
Present owners John and Kathy Thomas came to
the Northstate from Concord on vacation to Whiskeytown Lake.
They fell in love with the beautiful country and wanted to stay.
John was reluctant to go back to his old occupation and started
looking for possiblities in the area. John's father had always
wanted to open a wrecking yard and was not able to fulfill his
dream. When Hess brothers Auto & Truck Recycling was presented
as a business opportunity, it didn't take long for the papers
to be signed. John & Kathy opened the door for a new career
in 1991.

The business is interesting.
It has its up and downs due to fluctuations in the economy and
iron prices, but John loves meeting, talking to, and working
with people. The HOT LINE "Orion" computer system
connects him to businesses and people nation wide, and can find
most any part. John enjoys talking to people in the south with
their strong southern accents. guessing where people are from
is as intersting as finding parts.
