Birdsong Auto
DO YOU REMEMBER
WHEN Red Bluff telephone numbers were three
digit's, Daily News classified ads were 4
to 8 cents per word and you could buy a nice
little 500-acre ranch in the foothills for
$15,000? That's what a few tidbits revealed
from a July 7,1948 copy of the red Bluff daily
News that was found in an oak desk and given
to Bob Birdsong, owner of Birdsong's Aside
cars.
"IT WAS
JUST AFTER THE WAR" and if you could
get any kind of a car that would run, you
could sell it, "Birdsong said. "A
good 1940 or '41 Chevy would be $1,800."
Today, a 10-year-old Chevrolet sedan sells
for around $895, though the same vintage low-milage
economy car might bring $1,800. A 1939 Packard
convertible sold for $1,200.

"WE'LL MATCH ANY DEAL
IN TOWN"

Bob's son Larry "Butch" Birdsong
started working for his Dad in 1973. He bought the business
in 1990 when Bob passed away and hired his son Larry
that same year. As lifelong residents of Red Bluff,
the family celebrated 53 years in the auto business
with the new century.
Butch and his wife Wanda, enjoy community
activities and their family, son Larry, his wife Dana
and their two children, Piper and Cassidy, and their
daughter Kimberly, with son Cheyne.
The Birdsongs want to thank their lifelong
customers, and new friends, for the years of support.
They take pride in honesty and fair dealings. That's
why they have been in business for more than half a
century.
Honesty, A Proud
Tradition
